Spathiphyllum

Spathiphyllum is a genus comprising about 40 species of plants, native to tropical America. The name comes from the Greek language: "spath" translates to "floral sheath" and "phyllon" to "leaf". It is common as a houseplant and is decorative because of its white spathe flowers and yellowish-white spadix. It is also a highly prized plant for its ability to purify the air in rooms.
