Outdoor plants
Daffodils (Narcissus spp.) are perennial plants that belong to the Amaryllidaceae family, originating from Central and Western Europe. They have an ovoid, pyriform bulb in the soil. The leaves are linear, cylindrical, with a pointed tip, green or blue-green. The flowers have a trumpet shape, are variously colored and can be straight, upwards oriented, or pendent. The fruit is a capsule.
Soil
Daffodils prefer soils rich in humus, which ensure good drainage, with a pH between 6-7. It is recommended to avoid heavy, wet soils, which can cause the bulbs to rot.
Light
Daffodils grow well in direct sunlight, but also tolerate partial shade.
Watering
Daffodils need regular watering during the growth and flowering period. After the flowers have wilted and the leaves have dried, the plants no longer need water.
Fertilisation
They react favorably to the application of granular or liquid fertilizers.
Propagation
Daffodils are propagated by dividing the bulbs. This procedure can be performed once every 3-4 years, in the summer, during dormancy.
