Spathiphyllum – Flower with brown spots
Hello
I have the same problem as in the previous message only I don’t water so often. Instead, I sprayed in the air above the plant because the air in the room was dry and the tops of the leaves dried out and became brittle. The same thing happens to the dracaena that I spray with water. Only the dracaena has no flowers. What can I do in the future to the spathiphyllum? Do I have to cover the flowers when I spray? They seem to be very sensitive to excess moisture. Or is it better to just wipe the leaves with a damp cloth? Thank you.Attachments:

Hello, the symptoms most likely appeared after spraying the flowers with water, the high humidity causing their depreciation. Thus, at the moment, it is indicated to remove the affected flower and maintain high relative humidity by spraying only the leaves or wiping them with a damp cloth. Also, to stimulate flowering and growth, you can regularly apply a special flowering fertilizer such as Flowering Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml. More information about specific care requirements can be found in the following article: Spathiphyllum, plant care and growing guide.

Thank you for your answer.
Yes, I could buy this fertilizer, if it is better for spathiphyllum than other fertilizers due to its composition. Only from the instructions for use, it can be used in spring-summer, now being January might not be the right time yet.
From a video, I found out that at this time of year you could use gibberellic acid by spraying. I saw that you have it in stock and at a small quantity of 5g, it isn’t expensive. If you think it’s ok I could buy that too and use it until the beginning of March when I start using the recommended fertilizer once every 2-3 weeks.-
On our website, in the product specifications, it is mentioned that the organic flowering fertilizer is usually administered during the growing season, and since your plant currently has flowers, it is not in its dormant period. In order for indoor plants to benefit from a resting period during the cold season, it is necessary to ensure several specific environmental conditions, presented in the following article: Dormancy period of indoor plants. Also, gibberellic acid is a phytohormone intended for use in culture and is not approved for ornamental plants.

CACARMEN6 April 2022Hello, I would like to come back with a question about the peace lily from the previous post. As you can see from the attached pictures the leaf tips are burnt. The general appearance is relatively good, I changed the pot to a self-watering pot and started using the fertilizer you recommended once every two weeks. Occasionally I spray the leaves (the plant has no flowers). Even the newly emerged leaves are burnt at the top and I can’t figure out why. The question is whether it would be worth investing in a humidifier to provide higher atmospheric humidity? Right now it is around 35-40%, measured with a room thermohygrometer. It’s probably a bit low.
Thank you.Attachments:

Spathiphyllum prefers a high humidity of at least 50%, but this can be ensured by spraying the foliage with water 3-4 times a week. However, as the conditions in the natural environment cannot be fully ensured in the apartment, the plants may generally show changes in appearance, which are less aesthetic.

Thank you very much for your answer.
You are right. No matter what we do we cannot replicate in an apartment room the atmospheric conditions of the natural plant environment, especially for those that prefer humidity. For those that prefer dry air, it is easier.
I will still spray the plants with the frequency you recommended. I may consider a humidifier in the future if I can find one at a good price. But I won’t expect miracles. Just so it will save me from spraying. That remains to be seen.AuthorPostsViewing 2 reply threadsWas this discussion helpful?
