Spathiphyllum, plant care and growing guide

Spathiphyllum is a decorative plant native to the tropics of America. It has a flower consisting of a spadix colored in white and yellow and leaves that are bright green, elongated, crinkled, and wavy at the edges. The plant, native to Central and South America, decorates the room with its leaves and flowers. It is often grown as a houseplant, being appreciated for the property of purifying the air in the rooms.

Environmental conditions

Light. Spathiphyllum prefers positioning in bright places, but not in direct sunlight, which can cause burns to the leaves. It also tolerates well partial shade, especially during the hot season.

Temperature. It grows well at a temperature between 20-28° C, and in winter it needs temperatures of at least 14° C. Too low temperatures and drafts can affect the plant and slow down the plant’s growth.

Humidity. It needs both high atmospheric humidity and in the substrate, but before you water the plant again, the soil must be allowed to dry a little.

Substrate. Spathiphyllum grows well in almost any type of substrate, as long as the substrate has a good water drainage capacity.

Diseases and pests

In addition:
