Spathiphyllum – brown spots on flowers
Hello, I have a problem with a Spathiphyllum. For a few days, the flowers have started to blacken one by one. The plant is placed on a piece of furniture somewhere at 180cm high without direct light, only indirect. The temperature is ~24 degrees at night and ~26 degrees during the day. Humidity is constantly around 75%. I have not carried out any treatments, just watered it once every 2 days, since I bought it. I have had it for about a month from the store. The flowers started to blacken about a week ago. I also put a picture where I check the soil moisture. I don’t notice any pests or mold.

Hello, most probably, the present symptoms appeared due to high humidity in the soil. It is advisable to check the drainage holes, that they are not clogged and allow water to drain. Also, allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. To help it along, it is recommended to apply a fertilizer such as Biplantol Vital ( Biplantol Vital NT, 250 ml ), by watering, in a dose of 2 ml / 1 l of water. After 10-14 days, Biplantol Vital can be applied again, this time by spraying, at a dose of 20 ml/1 l water. Foliar applications can be repeated after about 14 days in the spring-autumn period. More information about specific care requirements can be found in the following article: Spathiphyllum, plant care and growing guide.

Recommended articlesBoBogdan29 March 2022Hello, unfortunately in the meantime I have also discovered pests in the drain pan and in the potting soil. I have attached some pictures. They look like 2 distinct types of pests. I bought the fertilizer but when I applied it today for the first time I also saw this problem.

Hello, if pests are present in the soil, it is indicated to replace it with a new one ( Room Plants Substrate, 10 litres ). After repotting, it is recommended to apply a rooting stimulator such as Razormin ( Razormin, 250 ml ), in a dose of 20 ml / 10 l water, by watering. One or two treatments can be carried out every 10-14 days. 7-10 days after transplanting, you can reapply Biplantol Vital ( Biplantol Vital NT, 250 ml ).
