Monstera

The genus Monstera comprises about 50 species, native to the tropical regions of the Americas. The plants are decorated with large, green leaves with perforations inside. The name of the genus comes from the Latin "monstrum", which translates as monster, referring to the very large leaves that have a particular shape. The most common species is Monstera deliciosa, also commonly known as "poor man's pineapple", because of its edible fruit that tastes similar to pineapple.
