Monstera, brown spots on the leaves

Hello! I received this cute Monstera plant from my girlfriend for Christmas. The plant was doing well at first but I noticed that it is slowly, slowly beginning to lose its health and I don’t know why…. I’m not a specialist and I really don’t know what could be wrong with it. Thanks in advance for your reply.
I should mention that it gets indirect natural light, it stays at a constant 22 degrees C and is watered once a week.

Hello, please give us more information about how you take care of the plant: if the substrate dries out before watering, if the atmospheric humidity is high, if you have carried out treatments or if you have fertilized it, whether there are any cold draughts (permanently or occasionally) and any other relevant information. Also, please check the plant carefully and let us know if you notice any other symptoms of disease (deposits, powders, discoloration, white fuzz, fine webs on the topside and underside of the leaves, etc.) or pests. If you notice any symptoms of disease/pests, please attach clear and relevant photos of them.

Hello, I’m back with an update about the plant. The atmospheric humidity is not high as I have a purifier/humidifier in the room. At the moment I haven’t applied any treatments and I haven’t used any fertilizers. Also, there is no cold draught in the room. After carefully checking the plant I have not noticed any other symptoms of disease or pests. The plant is watered once a week and before watering I have not checked if the substrate is dry. Thank you and I hope this answer is helpful.

Hello. The slight deterioration of the plant was most probably caused by several factors such as: constant and high humidity in the substrate (at root level), the appearance of a phytopathogenic disease, lack of fertilizers, etc. In this case, we recommend a treatment with a fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dose of 20 g/10 L water. The substance is sprayed finely on the plant, both on the topside and underside of the leaves and on the stem. Also, when watering, it is advisable to apply a larger volume of water at a longer interval (so that the substrate dries slightly before watering again). In spring, for a good development of the plant and to ensure the necessary nutrients for it, you can consider applying a fertilizer such as Wuxal Green Plants and Palm Fertilizer Palmendünger, 1 litre or Fertilizer Ficus Freund, 350 ml. More tips and information on growing and caring for this plant can be found in our article in the Armuro Community: Monstera, plant care and growing guide .
