Monstera, yellowing of the leaf tips
Hello. This plant is over 10 years old, my mother took care of it everyday, but unfortunately now my mother is no longer alive. I would like to keep this plant as long as I can but for the past 3 weeks the tips of its leaves have started to turn a little yellow. There are about 4-5 leaves like that, the rest seem ok. I water it about twice a week. I pour about half a litre of water, the pot being big. I don’t know how she watered it before. Please if you can give me some advice. Thank you very much

Hello! The yellowing of leaf tips can have several causes, such as: inadequate watering, insufficient light, a possible nutrient deficiency, change of care methods. For the time being, it is recommended to water the plant moderately using a sufficient amount of liquid, allowing the first 5 cm of substrate to dry out before watering again.
Monstera prefers indirect sunlight and the lack of it can lead to leaf yellowing. You may consider placing the plant in a brighter area, but away from direct sunlight which can cause burns (especially during summer).
Also, the lack of nutrients can lead to leaf yellowing. Thus, it is recommended to regularly apply a special fertilizer for indoor plants such as Wuxal Green Plants and Palm Fertilizer Palmendünger, 1 litre or Interior Plants Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml.
More tips and information on growing and maintaining this plant can be found in our article in the Armuro Community: Monstera, plant care and growing guide.-

Hello! The deterioration of plants can occur due to several factors, so please describe briefly how you care for them (watering, temperature, humidity, whether they were fertilized or treated with anything, whether or not you sprayed water on the plants and any other information that may be relevant).
BeBeatrice19 March 2024Most of them I water once a week, I haven’t moved them, they are on the balcony. They have light but they don’t sit in direct sunlight. I haven’t sprayed water on them.
Considering the attached photos and the information provided, the deterioration of the plants could have been caused by one or more factors such as: inadequate watering, a possible nutrient deficiency, the presence of water on the leaves, a possible phytopathogenic disease. In this case, it is recommended to remove the affected leaves and to treat them with a fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dose of 20 g/10 L water. Spray (Tech1) the solution as finely and evenly as possible on the plant, both on the topside and underside of the leaves. 10-12 days after the fungicide treatments, in order to support the regeneration of the plants after the disease, it is important to use a special fertilizer such as: Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml, applied directly by spraying, according to the recommendations on the label. During the growing period, to stimulate the growth and development of the plant, you can consider the regular administration of a fertilizer that is specially formulated for indoor plants, such as Interior Plants Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml, applied by watering at the roots, according to the recommendations on the label.
It is also advisable to water the plant moderately using a sufficient amount of liquid, allowing the first 5 cm of the substrate to dry before watering again.
