Ficus, sticky leaves that fall off
Hello.
I have a problem with my ficus tree. Since it got cold outside I brought the plant indoors. Until now it was kept outside on the balcony. Lately it has started to lose a lot of leaves and something sticky has appeared on them.
In the house the temperature where it is kept is 20-22 degrees. It is placed near the window, in the light.Attachments:

Hello. Please give us more information about the location of the plant (if it is close to a heat source), how you water it (the amount of water you use, the source of the water and the frequency of watering) and tell us if you have carried out any treatments or if you have fertilized it. Also, try to remove the brownish formation in the second photo and let us know if it can be removed easily. Additionally, please check the plant carefully and let us know if you notice any other symptoms (spots, deposits, discoloration, white fuzz, fine webs, etc.) or pests and send us focused photos of them, if applicable.
VNVali Nicula11 January 2024Hello. The plant is placed about 1.5 m away from the radiator but it is rarely used as a heat source. The amount of water I use is no more than 1 l, the frequency of watering is every 3 weeks-1 month when it gets cold outside, in summer it is twice a month.
I used a green plant fertilizer towards the end of November and other than that I used water (bought).
That stuff on the leaves is sticky, it doesn’t come off very easily. In addition to this sticky substance, at the base of the stalk, on the underside of the leaf you can see a small whitish deposit which can be easily removed.Attachments:

Hello. If no pests could be observed on the leaves, then the sticky secretion is latex, which crystallizes and forms in the area of the petiole, and these deposits are normal for this species and are no cause for concern. Regarding the leaf drop, this phenomenon can be caused by several factors such as: insufficient light, temperature fluctuations, presence of draughts, inadequate watering, etc. For information and advice on the care of this species, please consult our articles in the Armuro Community: Ficus, plant care and growing guide and Ficus, pest and disease control. For a harmonious growth of the plant, you can consider the use of a special fertilizer for this species, which stimulates a healthy vegetative growth, such as Fertilizer Ficus Freund, 350 ml, administered by watering, according to the information in the product description. Also, to improve the photosynthesis process and to obtain a natural shine of the leaves, it is recommended to apply a treatment with a product such as Leaf Shine Spray Blatt-Fit, 500 ml.
