Magnolia

Magnolia is a genus of shrubs comprising about 210 species. It belongs to the subfamily Magnolioideae, in the family Magnoliaceae. The name of the plant comes from the name of the French botanist Pierre Magnol. Magnolias are predominantly found in East and Southeast Asia, but can also be found in North America. Magnolia forms a pyramidal crown and has dark green oval-shaped leaves that are covered with a layer of wax. The leaves are arranged alternately on the branches.
