Calathea

It is a genus of plants in the Marantaceae family, native to tropical and subtropical areas of America. It forms a rosette of oval, dark, green leaves with purplish hues. The species Calathea crocata is uniquely bred for its globular, orange-yellow flowers. It is common as a houseplant, although it is sensitive to air humidity and cold draughts.
