Calathea, dry and yellowed leaves
Hello! I have a beautiful Calathea that is gradually losing its leaves (I’ve had it for 3 months). They are drying on the edges, then they turn yellow. I keep it in a bright place, but without direct sunlight, I water it once a week, the temperature is around 22-23 degrees and I haven’t changed the pot. It shows no signs of pests on the leaves or in the soil. Please help me!

Hello! In order to help you with a recommendation, please give us more details about the care of the plant: whether the plant is near a heat source, whether you have carried out any treatments or if you have fertilized it, how you water the plant, what kind of water you use, how much water you use, whether or not the pot has drainage holes, whether or not you spray the plant with water, whether or not the air is dry in the room, etc.
ElEliza27 January 2024I water the plant with water without lime or chlorine, using a moderate amount, approx. one cup. It does not sit near the radiator and I spray it once a week. I have not applied any treatments or fertilizers. The pot has drainage holes.
The symptoms that can be observed are similar to those caused by a bacteriosis. In this case, it is recommended to remove the affected leaves and carry out 2 treatments, 7-10 days apart, with a fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dose of 20 g/10 L water. Spray (Tech1) the solution as finely and evenly as possible on the plant, both on the topside and underside of the leaves. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours.
10-12 days after fungicide treatments, in order to support the plant’s regeneration, you can consider using a special fertilizer such as Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml, applied directly by spraying, as recommended on the label.
During the vegetative growth period, in order to stimulate the growth and development of the plant, you can consider using a fertilizer such as Interior Plants Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml or AMN Verde, 500 ml, applied according to the recommendations on their label.
