Plumeria leaf spots
Hello! I bought a plant named Plumeria last fall and it did great until 2 weeks ago when I noticed spots on the leaves! More and more spots are appearing! I love this plant so much I don’t want to lose it! I wish I knew what disease it has and what I can treat it with! I have been watering it moderately and giving it fertilizer according to the label specifications. Thank you very much! I’m waiting for an answer!

Hello, please examine the plant carefully and let us know if you have identified any pests. Also, please attach some photos of the lower part of the affected leaves.
MaMariana29 March 2022I didn’t notice anything on the leaves except that today something sticky appeared beside the spots on the leaves! Otherwise, not a single insect can be seen! And in between the small leaflets, there is a little liquid! Thank you very much for your answer!

MaMariana29 March 2022Hello! Today I saw the same problem on Hibiscus! I noticed something similar to whitefly, and something sticky on the leaves! Could it be because of this? Please kindly help me as I don’t want to lose my plants! Thank you very much!

Hello, from the photos, the plants show symptoms of a pest attack (most likely thrips). In this case, it is recommended to apply 2 treatments (6-7 days apart) with an insecticide such as Mavrik ( Mavrik 2 F, 5 ml ), 5 ml / 10 l water, on all the plants in that space (to prevent their spread to other plants). Also, to stimulate plant regeneration after the attack, you can apply a special fertilizer, such as Biplantol vital ( Biplantol Vital NT, 250 ml ), by watering (in a dose of 2 ml / 1 l water). You can apply this fertilizer 2-3 times, at an interval of 10-14 days.

Hello, in order to help you with a recommendation, please specify more details: when did the symptoms appear, exactly? What are the environmental conditions in that space (light, temperature, air humidity)? How often do you water the plant and how? Have you applied any treatment or fertilizer so far?
CRCucovici Ramona11 April 2022The holes on the bottom of the pot are quite small, I’m thinking I’ve been watering it too much, that’s 2 or 3 times a week, and the water has somehow kept it too moist. The top seems a bit soft where it is green, I am thinking of repotting it to look at the roots. What advice can you give me! Thank you!

CRCucovici Ramona11 April 2022I have not applied any treatment, only fertilizer twice a month, watering from top to bottom, not at the base of the stem. I have to mention that the first time it came from Holland in April, the delivery time was 2 weeks and the Plumeria suffered from the transport but recovered in time.

In this case, the symptoms were most likely caused by high root moisture. It is important that watering is done moderately, leaving the first 3-4 cm of the soil to dry out between waterings. More information about the specific care requirements of plumeria can be found in our article: Plumeria, plant care and growing guide. It is also recommended to use a special fertilizer for indoor plants, which stimulates the vegetative growth and plant regeneration such as Interior Plants Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml.
