Hello. As far as phytosanitary treatments are concerned, since ornamental plants can be affected by numerous pathogens (unlike certain vegetables or fruit trees where specific pests and diseases can be listed) and their attack is unpredictable (in time and space), preventive spraying is often ineffective. Thus, in general, ornamental plants should be checked periodically, treatments being applied only when pests or disease symptoms are observed. In such cases, it is advisable to consult the advice of specialists from the first signs of disease.
It is known that plant pathogens occur and cause damage primarily to weak, poorly developed plants, advancing to healthy and vigorous plants only in the case of mass multiplication (when no measures are taken at the onset of the attack and there are sufficient hosts for the pest/disease). Vigorous plants that benefit from optimal environmental conditions and care are rarely affected by diseases or pests. Thus, it is recommended to ensure optimal growing conditions for your ornamental plants (Cherry laurel, planting guide and care work). Their proper fertilization is also essential to ensure healthy growth and development. The main role of root fertilizers is to improve the fertility, texture and structure of the soil, thus stimulating the optimal uptake of nutrients from the earth and thus plant growth (e.g. Tree Shrubs, 1 litre or AMN Nordalge, 500 ml). Foliar fertilizers prevent deficiencies, improve the photosynthesis process and contribute to chlorophyll biosynthesis, stimulate a healthy growth and improve the resistance of plants to physiological stress, diseases or pests (e.g. AMN Optiferrum, 500 ml, Terra-Sorb Foliar, 250 ml or Contra X, 500 ml).
Also, considering that the activity and propagation of plant pathogens is stimulated by high and constant humidity in the soil, watering is recommended to be carried out exclusively at the roots, depending on the recorded temperatures and rainfall, only when the soil is dry on the surface.-
