Cherry laurel, dry and yellowed leaves
I planted 100 cherry laurel shrubs in the fall and I was really surprised how well they did. Being a mild winter, they were absolutely gorgeous in January and I was astonished that new leaves grew over the winter. However, I was away for 3 weeks and when I went there today I found them as in the pictures. 80% of the plants are affected at foliage level, some plants at the tips others in the middle. I don’t know what to do with them and what is the cause.

Hello! These symptoms can be caused by a number of factors, as well as a combination of factors, including the following: the stress suffered at planting and when environmental conditions changed (Ornamental trees and shrubs - Planting guide), the reduced size of the root system, unfavorable climatic and soil conditions, an excess of salts in the soil, high and constant soil humidity, lack of adequate fertilizing, the occurrence of phytopathogenic agents, etc.
It is recommended to remove the damaged parts of the plants, to loosen the soil around them and to apply an organic fertilizer by watering at the roots, which stimulates root expansion, a healthy growth, increasing their resistance and helping the plants to overcome periods of stress: AMN Nordalge, 500 ml, as recommended in the product description.
Given the current state of the cherry laurel shrubs, it is not possible to say exactly how they will develop in the future. For more information on the care of these plants, you can consult our article: Cherry laurel, planting guide and care work.
