Strawberry
Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa) is a small (15-40 cm), perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is considered a fruit plant because of its edible fruit. The upper part of the plant forms a rosette of leaves. It develops a shallow root system and the flowers are hermaphrodite, white.
The part that is consumed is improperly called the fruit, this being the thickened floral receptacle. The fruit of the strawberry is the nut on the receptacle (red flesh). Depending on the ripening period, strawberry varieties can be divided into early, medium, and late.
