Willow

The genus Salix, which comprises about 400 species of leafy trees and shrubs native to the cold temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. Their height differs according to species, from 6 cm (Salix herbacea) to 30-40 m (Salix alba, Salix babylonica). They have a thin, flexible, sap-laden bark containing a high percentage of salicylic acid. The roots are stoloniferous, hardy, they sprout very easily from the aerial parts of the plant in conditions of high humidity, so willows are very easy to propagate.
