Aesculus (chestnut) is a genus comprising about 24 species of trees and shrubs of the Sapindaceae family, native to Europe, Asia, and North America. They can grow up to 30 m tall and form a thick, globular canopy. They are vigorous growing trees, especially after 2-3 years, and have a longevity of about 150 years. They are of great decorative value, being found in parks, gardens, as solitary specimens, in groups or in rows.
