Native to Asia, the Japanese cherry (Prunus serrulata) grows as a third-largest tree, reaches a height of 10-15 m, and develops a very wide crown (up to 9 m in diameter in older trees). The leaves are oval, pointed, short serrate, 6-12 cm long. The flowers are grouped in 3-5 racemes, white, full, about 4 cm.
