Albizia

Albizia is a genus comprising over 160 species of trees and shrubs of the subfamily Mimosoideae (family Fabaceae). The name of the genus comes from the name of the Italian nobleman Filippo degli Albizzi, who first introduced the species Albizia julibrissin to Europe in the 18th century. Most of them are planted for ornamental purposes, but they are also used in furniture making, animal feed, and herbal medicine.
