Hello. Bark cracking in trees can occur as a result of unfavorable weather conditions (e.g. sunburn, frost) or as a result of pathogens. The establishment and evolution of diseases are favored in cracks caused by sunburn or frost.
It is therefore recommended to clean dry bark and wounds on the trunk with a sharp and previously disinfected tool. Then apply a copper-based solution with a brush, such as Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g. Dissolve one sachet of Bordeaux mixture (50 g) in a small amount of water (0.5 liters) to form a paste. Copper has a bactericidal, and fungicidal effect and helps wounds heal quickly. After disinfecting thoroughly with the blue solution and allowing it to dry, you can apply a healing solution such as Tree plaster, 300 g, to all existing wounds on the stem. Given the current state of the cracks and the risk of pathogens, it is not possible to say exactly how the tree will develop in the future.
To stimulate healthy growth, it is recommended to use a specially formulated fertilizer to revitalize the root system and improve nutrient uptake from the soil, such as AMN Nordalge, 500 ml or Tree Shrubs, 1 litre, by root watering, according to the instructions in the product description. In addition, to help the tree to overcome the stress period, it is recommended to apply a foliar fertilizer such as Terra-Sorb Foliar, 100 ml, by foliar spraying, in a dose of approx. 25 ml/10 L water, according to the instructions in the product description.
