      Walnut tree – iodine in soil

      After cutting down a really old black wallnut tree ,we planted lilac bushes 3 times over and they all died why?

      Hello, it is possible the soil of the area where you had the walnut is still full of iodine, which is toxic for other plants. It is recommended you plant the lilac bushes in a different area, in order for them to survive.
