      Thuja, leaf mold

      Hello!
I have in my backyard about 50 thuja shrubs of different sizes. From 2m to 5m. Until this year we have had no problems with them. But this year we had and have several.
By mid summer they started to have brownish tips. I applied Cabrio Top, antifungal and one more, alternated. The problem didn’t worsen, so I think it’s solved.
Last fall we moved about 10 large thuja shrubs to another area in the yard. They did well until summer, when some of them started to dry out. I got Champ 77 and Fir Fluid from you. I cleaned them today and saw some mold on the branches (I attached pictures). Can you please tell me what I can treat them with? And if I can do something for the partially dry ones? Thank you!

Hello! The white fuzz is characteristic to two pests: Metcalfa pruinosa (citrus flatid planthopper) or Eriosoma lanigerum (woolly apple aphid). The symptoms caused by these two pests are very similar and can only be assessed by closer examination. Please check if when you remove that fuzz, you notice the presence of a butterfly (cicada), or if you notice the presence of woolly aphids (they are more visible and move more slowly than the cicadas), and when they are crushed, they release a reddish substance. Also, please attach a few clear, close-up pictures of the white fuzz.

Hello! I couldn’t find those red aphids. I’ve squashed several tufts of fuzz. It must be the other pest.

In view of the photos and information provided, it is recommended to carry out treatments with a product such as Mavrik 2 F, 5 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water, and after 7-10 days, it is advisable to alternate with an insecticide such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L, to the solutions. Spray the mixtures as finely as possible in order to achieve a more uniform distribution on the plant. The resulting solutions have a shelf life of 24 hours, so it is not recommended to keep them for longer.
In order to increase the plant’s resistance to frost and winter conditions, you can consider using a potassium-rich fertilizer such as Fertilizer 0-0-40 Azet HerbstKali, 2 kg. It is administered by spreading it around the plants, followed by gentle incorporation and watering, according to the recommendations on the label.
