Quince tree, year 2 from planting – 30% of the flowers seem to be burnt + excessive fuzz
Hello! We have a quince tree in our orchard, year 2 from planting, on which we recently noticed that some flowers (30% of them) look as if they have been burned. Around them there is also a little more fuzz than around the other flowers. Next to it, about 2,5 -3 meters away is another 2 year old quince tree, but of the Beretzki variety, which has no problems.
I should point out that the tree sits in the sun all day, it has been watered regularly, the treatments following this schedule:
1. January 2024 – Bordeaux mixture
2. 10 February – Horticultural oil + Coragen + Vertimec
3. 25 March – The treatment from your site for weeds (Alcupral + Thiovit + Nissorun).
Could you please tell us what the problem is and what we could help it with so that it can grow well in the future?
Thank you!

Hello. In order to help you with a recommendation, please give us more information about the quince tree: when exactly did the symptoms start? How did you carry out the last treatment (March): were the products applied separately or together? Did the symptoms appear before or after applying this treatment? Was the pump you used also used when applying other products (e.g. herbicides)? Were there any unfavorable weather conditions in the last period (strong wind, heavy rain, etc.)? Have you applied any fertilizers? Have you noticed any pests (check carefully) or other relevant symptoms? If yes, please come back with clear, focused photos of the observed symptoms.
BoBogdan28 April 2024Hello! The symptoms started at the beginning of the flowering period, so about 2 weeks ago. The products were applied at the same time. Should they have been applied separately? The symptoms appeared after applying this treatment. I have used the same pump to apply other products, but never herbicides. Strong wind exists, as does strong sun. Less heavy rain. I applied Manna Bio Bodenaktivator fertilizer a week ago.
Speaking of pests, at one point I noticed a beetle the size of my thumb, there was only one and I removed it. Currently I haven’t noticed any other pests.
Thanks!
BogdanThe symptoms that quince tree presents may be caused by a number of factors: unfavorable environmental conditions, potential pests, possible phytotoxicity, etc., but only from the attached photos, it is not possible to identify the exact cause that led to the slight leaf/flower deterioration.
Further, it is recommended to remove the affected portions, to follow its specific care requirements (Quince, planting, growing and harvesting), to administer a fertilizer with revitalizing and regenerating effect: AMN Verde, 500 ml, by spraying it on the leaves and to monitor the quince tree for a while. In case other symptoms appear or the present ones worsen, we are waiting for your message accompanied by photos.
As a general note, the number of treatments recommended in the calendar and the products used are chosen according to the incidence of the pathogens or pests in the previous year, the warning bulletins issued, the symptoms observed on the plants, etc. In general, in order to avoid any risk of diminishing the effectiveness of the products or the occurrence of phytotoxicity phenomena, it is advisable to apply both plant protection products and fertilizers individually or to reduce the number of components in the mixture to a minimum. If it is necessary to apply several products in a mixture, it is important to carry out a physico-chemical compatibility test in a small volume of water.-
