Hello! The formations that can be seen on the branches look like a species of scale insects (Ceroplastes ceriferus). They have a body covered with waxy membrane, which makes them quite difficult to control, being more resistant to insecticides or predators. Given the current season, it is recommended to remove them manually as much as possible and to carry out treatments specific to the dormancy period (Winter treatments with oils and copper-based products), using a copper fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g, Coppermax, 30 g or Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g, followed by a treatment with horticultural oil: Ovipron Top, 100 ml, Estiuoil, 100 ml or Mospilan Oil 20 SG 10, 3 g + 50 ml.
During the growing season, when pests appear, specific insecticide treatments can be applied (if necessary). Against the pests it is recommended to apply treatments with insecticides such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml and Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g, alternately. More precisely, the first treatment is recommended to be carried out with Movento, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water, and 7 days later a treatment with Mospilan, in a dose of 3 g/10 L water, can be applied. In order to increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L to the solutions. Spray the mixtures as finely as possible, so as to achieve an even distribution on the plant, both on the underside and topside of the leaves and on the stem.
