Pine, drying branches
It started to dry out about 5 months ago. Next to it I had another one that had about the same evolution and when it got to about 60% dry I cut it off. Since then it started to dry out more – it had just a small dry branch before.
The pines are about 20 years old.Attachments:

Hello, please send us close-up photos of the affected parts of the plant and give us more details about the care of the tree: watering, fertilization, treatments, and other information that you think would help us identify the cause. Please tell us if you have recently done any work that may have disturbed the roots of the plants or if you have used any substances near the plants that may have affected them. Also, please check the plant carefully and let us know if you notice any damage, resin leaks, holes, fine webs, white deposits, etc. and send us photos of these (if there are any).
MaMarcian27 November 2023Hello
The pine has not been maintained for 20 years.
No work has been done and no weed control has been carried out around it. I attach more picturesAttachments:

MaMarcian28 November 2023Hello! It is known that slight drying inside the crown and at its base is a normal phenomenon in conifers, which occurs with age, i.e. with the growth and thickening of the canopy and, therefore, the limitation of the light penetration inside it. The symptoms can be accentuated by several biotic or abiotic factors, such as unsuitable soil conditions, a reduced size of the root system, unfavorable climatic conditions, excessive summer heat, etc. For the time being, it is recommended to remove all the affected needles or parts of the plant. Subsequently, it is recommended to carry out a copper treatment with Champ 77 WG, 200 g, according to the instructions on the product label. Spray the solution as finely as possible, so as to achieve an even distribution on the plant, both on the leaves and stems. At the same time as the copper fungicide treatment, it is advisable to use a fertilizer with a high potassium content, such as Fertilizer 0-0-40 Azet HerbstKali, 2 kg (by spreading it around the plants in a dose of 20 – 30 g/sqm, followed by incorporation and watering), as this increases the resistance to frost and improves the water balance of the plant. For more detailed information on the care and fertilization of this plant species, please check our articles: Conifers, planting guide and care work; Conifer diseases: affected needles, branches and cones; Conifer pests: information and treatments.
