Orchids, replanting dehydrated orchids with multiple aerial roots
Hello,
I’ve had this orchid for at least 6 years, during which time it has bloomed countless times. About 2-3 years ago this new plant appeared at its base. The plant has been sitting on the windowsill, facing north for about 5 years.
In the last year its position was changed to a S-W facing windowsill, with more sun than in the previous years. In the last few months it has had a difficult time, little watering, no fertilizer.
The leaves are dehydrated but not soft and have a rough cardboard texture. The plant has not been repotted so far.
Can it still be saved? Can I split them into 2 separate plants? What can I do with the aerial roots?
Thanks!Attachments:

Hello.
The orchid is a plant that grows well in partial shade and does not tolerate direct sunlight. It would be best to move it back to the north facing spot. You could change the plant to a larger pot and leave the smaller one in the pot it is already in. You should change the substrate to one suitable for this species, Orchids Professional Substrate, 10 litres, and fertilize with Wuxal Orchid Fertilizer Orchideendünger, 250 ml in a dose of 2 mL per 1 L water, applied by spraying or simple watering. To make the plant keep its shine for a longer period of time you can also apply this spray: Leaf Shine Spray Blatt-Fit, 500 ml.
Regarding the aerial roots, I recommend you to remove the dry ones and apply a copper-containing, wound-healing fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g in a dose of 2 g per 1 liter of water.
If you do all these things, the plants should recover.-

Hello. Given the current state of the plant, it is not possible to say exactly how it will develop in the future. In addition to the recommendations above, we recommend consulting the information and advice detailed in our articles: Orchid, plant care and growing guide and Indoor plants - Repotting. Additionally, you should bear in mind that it is not recommended to keep orchids in non-transparent double pots, because the roots of these plants need light to carry out the photosynthesis process.
