MiMimi10 March 2024From the attached pictures the orchid does not seem to show any symptoms of a specific disease. The pot it is currently in is not suitable for the size of the plant. When transplanting is possible (after the flowers have wilted) you can consider using a new, fresh substrate, such as Orchids Professional Substrate, 10 litres. Later, after transplanting, you can consider using a natural fertilizer, such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml, administered according to the label, which helps to improve the quality of the substrate and supports the plant during periods of stress. Additionally, for the general upkeep of the orchid’s health and to stimulate its regeneration capacity, you can consider applying a special fertilizer, such as Biplantol Orchid, 500 ml. Apply by spraying as evenly as possible on both sides of the leaves as well as on the aerial roots. Do not apply on flowers or buds. At the time of transplanting, it is recommended to remove the affected root portions.

MiMimi16 March 2024Hello,
I’m back with pictures of the orchid: now it has black petals, a white layer of mold, and the roots are rubbery to the touch.
I hope it can be saved.
Thanks!Attachments:

Hello! Most likely, the plant is at the end of its flowering period and wilting is a normal process. In this case, you can consider transplanting the orchid.
MiMimi18 March 2024Do you think the whole root will fit in a normal pot for orchids?

MiMimi19 March 2024Hello! The new pot should be 3-5 cm larger than the current one. It is also recommended to remove the damaged (dry or rotten) portions of the root, using a sharp and disinfected tool. In the article Orchid, plant care and growing guide, you can find more information about transplanting orchids. Also, the new pot does not have to be transparent, you can use an opaque pot, but make sure it has adequate drainage holes.
MiMimi21 March 2024Thank you very much for your answer.
Can I also use a ceramic pot? Plastic?AuthorPostsViewing 11 reply threadsWas this discussion helpful?
