      Myrtle – treatments against mealybugs

Hello. I have a myrtle tree that has recently shown signs of an infestation with mealybugs. On the twigs and on the back of the leaves there are some white web-like filaments and there are sticky secretions on the leaves. In one of the pictures you can clearly see the white insect. Unfortunately it also has the tendency to attack a nearby olive tree. Can you please confirm my hypothesis or give me more information about which species it may be so that I can carry out a specific treatment?
Please note that the plant has not been treated with anything previously. Thank you and I am waiting for an answer as soon as possible to start the treatment.

Hello. Indeed, the plant is suffering from an infestation of mealybugs. Against these pests we recommend a first treatment with Mavrik 2 F, 5 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water, and after 7 days, you can make a second treatment with Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L to the spray solution. Treatments are applied by a uniform spraying of the entire plant.
10-12 days after the end of the treatments, in order to support the regeneration of the plants after certain periods of stress, or if they have suffered pest attacks, it is recommended to use a product such as Contra X, 500 ml, as recommended in the product description.
You may also consider using a fertilizer with a revitalising and plant-supporting effect during stress conditions, such as Vital NT, 250 ml, applied by watering, as recommended on the label.
