Citrus, potted plants, leaves drying on the edge
Hello. I have had this Orange Citrina for 1 year now. I have only kept it in that place by the window, it has sun from morning till afternoon and it has done well so far. It has fruited and now has new flowers and twigs, but I don’t understand why the leaves are like this: brown on the edge and then fall off. I changed its soil in autumn and only started applying special citrus fertilizers in March. I water it about once every 10 days, because I check the topsoil up to a depth of 5 cm and it’s still wet. It’s only after about 10 days that it’s drier at the top and moist at the bottom. Thank you for your help.

Hello. In order to be able to help you with a recommendation, please give us more information about the plant: when did the symptoms start, exactly? What are the environmental conditions in the premises (temperature, humidity)? Is it located near a heat source? What is the source of the water? Does the pot have drainage holes? What fertilizers have you applied and how? What type of substrate do you use?
CrCristina10 April 2024Hello.
I’ve had the symptoms for a month now. The substrate is from Compo Sana for citrus plants.
They have a layer of clay balls at the bottom of the pot, then citrus substrate mixed with perlite. The pot has a hole at the bottom. The water is from the tap but it stays in an open container for at least 1 day, and the fertilizer is from Biopon specifically for citrus – a sort of gel (applied once every 10 days). It is placed near the window, the heat source is further away from it. I open that window during the day to air the room.Hello! From the attached information and photos, most likely the plant deterioration and the appearance of burns was caused by an excess of salts in the substrate. In this case, it is recommended to remove the severely damaged parts and repot the plant using a new substrate that has been specially designed for it (e.g. Citrus Professional Substrate, 20 litres). Immediately after transplanting, it is recommended to apply a natural fertilizer, such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml, applied by watering, throughout the growing period, at intervals of 2-4 weeks. This fertilizer helps to improve the quality of the substrate, supports root development and increases the plants’ resistance to stress factors. During the administration of AMN BonaVita, 500 ml it is advisable to discontinue the administration of other fertilizers.
