Citrus, possible pest on the underside of my lemon tree’s leaves
Hello,
I’ve grown a lemon tree from seed for about 3 years. Last summer we had it outside and it did pretty well, that is until the leaves started to get crumbly, something was eating them. I looked for possible pests, but I didn’t see anything. On your platform I saw that other people were complaining about such problems and there were also mentioned ways to counteract them.
Now, however, I am facing a different issue. On the underside of a leaf there is “something”, this “something” is protected, if I may say so, by a tissue similar to a spider cocoon.
When it cooled down outside I moved it to the hallway of the building, I have no room in the house. The temperature never dropped below 17°C, even when it was cold outside. It has natural light all day long (I live on the ground floor). Watering is only done when the top 2-3cm of the substrate is dry.
I don’t know when the symptoms started, but I discovered that little “something” that I don’t know what it could be.
Last year I transplanted it into a bigger pot, the soil that I used was “Floria, substrate for green plants and palms”.
I haven’t treated it in any way since I moved it to the hallway of the building.
Please, help me, if you can, with identifying that little “something” and then tell me how to get rid of it, if it is harmful.Attachments:

Hello! On the leaf of the plant the cocoon of an insect can be seen, but we cannot identify it exactly. In this case, we recommend removing the cocoon from the plant using a tissue. Also, please attach some clear photos of the insect in the cocoon, as well as the affected leaves, both their topside and the underside.
CoCornelia17 March 2024Good evening,
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the insect in the cocoon. It was just its shell, empty. I even found two more empty shells. I suspect they were moths or butterflies. I’ve also attached a couple of pictures of the affected leaves.
At the base of one leaf at the top of the plant there is also a small spot, which looks like some kind of glue, and that leaf seens to be eaten by something.
Thank you very much for your advice and guidance, it has been very helpful.Attachments:

The symptoms are similar to the attack of a defoliating insect (caterpillar/larva). In this case, if you consider it necessary, you can carry out 1-2 treatments, 7-10 days apart, with an insecticide such as BactoSpeine DF, 10 g, in a dose of 5-10 g/10 L water, applied by uniform spraying on the plants. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours. The treatment can be applied preventively on all the ornamental plants in the vicinity.
7-10 days after the treatments, it is advisable to use a maintenance product such as Contra X, 500 ml, applied directly by spraying. It supports the regeneration of plants after certain conditions of stress, or if they have suffered from pest attacks.
