Cabbage

Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) is an annual or biennial herbaceous vegetable of the Brassicaceae family, grown for its edible head. There are several varieties of cabbage, which include white and red cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. Capitata) and Savoy cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. Sabauda). The head is round and forms on a thick, short stem. The leaves are thick and alternate, wavy or lobed and the roots are fibrous and shallow. The plant produces large yellow flowers. The heads can vary in weight from 0.5 to 3.6 kg, depending on the variety.
