Hyacinth

Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis) is a perennial, ornamental plant native to the Mediterranean, but has spread throughout the world. It belongs to the order Asparagales, family Liliaceae. The genus Hyacinthus comprises about 30 herbaceous species with tunicate bulbs. The plant can reach 40 cm in height, with linear leaves 15 to 25 cm long. The flowers can have various colors: purple, violet, white, pink, peach, blue, red, yellow, and orange, clustered 5 - 10 (in some hybrids even more) supported by a thick, juicy stem (10-25 cm) and are strongly and pleasantly fragrant.
