Chestnut tree

The chestnut tree (Castanea sativa) grows as a vigorous tree, 15 to 25 meters tall. The trunk is robust and slightly twisted, and the tree forms broad, pyramidal or globular crowns. The leaves are toothed, lanceolate, and can reach up to 28 cm in length. It is a unisexual monoecious species. The same individual forms both female and male flowers. The fruit is achene-like, reddish-brown.
