Yucca with dried leaves
Hello. I bought a yucca three months ago and it started to dry out. I tried not to water it very often (at a week / a week and a half), I applied fertilizer sticks for green plants. And now, seeing that it is still drying, I moved the pot near the window, suspecting that it does not have enough light. Maybe it needs to be changed to another pot. I don’t know why and how I could save her. Thanks.

Hello. In order to help you with a recommendation, please give us more information about the plant: where is it located, what are the environmental conditions (temperature, air humidity)? How do you water it? Does the pot have drainage holes? When did the symptoms start, exactly? Is any pest present on the plant?

Hello. At first, I placed yucca away from the window, after which, 2 months after the purchase, it started to dry a few leaves. Seeing that more and more leaves were drying (the leaves did not bend, they remained in the same position), I placed it near the window, the living room being quite dark. I water once a week, even a week and a half, and at first, I sprayed water on the leaves every 3 days, but a month ago I stopped that spraying too. I left it in the pot I bought it in which has drainage holes, but this pot I put in another one. No pests are visible. A month after the purchase I put green plant fertilizer sticks in the soil.

Since yucca is a light-loving plant, these symptoms are most likely caused by insufficient light. It is therefore recommended to place the plant in a place with plenty of light. You can also consider repotting it into a larger pot with drainage holes, using soil mix such as Palm & Green Plants Substrate, 20 litres. More information about repotting indoor plants can be found in our article (Indoor plants - Repotting). After transplanting, it is recommended to use a natural fertilizer that helps to improve the quality of the soil, supports root development, and increases the plants’ resistance to stress, such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml. It can be applied in a dose of 5 ml / 1 l of water. It is recommended to carry out 3-4 treatments, at intervals of 10-14 days. For more information about Yucca care, you can consult our article (Yucca, plant care and growing guide).
