      Silver fir with red tips

      Hi,
I have the silver tree in the picture. It’s been going great for about 6 years. It’s in a pot on an unheated balcony – on the north side. This year its tips have turned red.
The previous years I applied bitter salt…this year I applied some universal fertilizer that said it was for conifers.
How do I solve the problem?
      Thank you,

Hello. Conifer species are known to last for a relatively short period of time in pots, containers or planters due to the lack of balance between their root size and crown size. In this case, the most likely cause of the deterioration is a combination of biotic and abiotic factors, such as insufficient space for root development, nutrient deficiencies, high and/or constant humidity at the level of the roots, unsuitable environmental conditions, possible phytopathogenic agents, etc. Given the current appearance of the conifer and the above-mentioned factors, it is not possible to say exactly how it will develop in the future.
For the time being, if you think the plant still has a chance of regeneration, you can consider gently loosening the top layer of the substrate. Additionally, to improve the fertility, texture and structure of the substrate, as well as to stimulate the microbial activity in the substrate, you may consider using a natural fertilizer such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml (by watering the roots – one administration during this period). Furthermore, you may consider applying a fertilizer with a revitalizing and strengthening effect for conifers, such as Fir Fluid, 350 ml, by foliar spraying (one application during this period). Later, from spring onwards, the fertilizers can be applied regularly, according to the recommendations on the labels.
