Fir tree, the tips of the branches turn yellow and fall off
Hello! The tips of the fir branches are turning yellow and the leaves are falling off! For about 1 year! We live in a humid area! What treatment could I apply to the fir tree?

Hello. In order to be able to help you with recommendations, please mention the time of planting, describe the environmental conditions in the area (temperature, rainfall, soil, light, wind), specify how often and how much watering you have done in the previous growing season, if you have applied fertilizers, and provide any other information that may be relevant in this case (e.g. if you identify other symptoms).
ReRemus14 March 2024It was planted about 7 years ago! It was 30 cm high ! Small! I didn’t water it too often ! Let’s say every 3 weeks! The soil about 1m under the tree is gravel! I applied a long-release fertilizer! I can’t remember what it was called! During that period it rained quite a lot, about 2 weeks, with puddles barely disappearing after 2 or 3 days and it seems like those environmental conditions lead to its quick deterioration! Did the roots get burnt? But I’ve also applied the same product to a silver tree and that one is doing great!
I also mixed some sand with lawn seeds and cubazot fertilizer for reseeding the lawn! Did the sand end up on the pine needles while throwing it on the lawn? Did it attack it?
Thank you!Hello. It is well known that the slight dryness inside the crown and at the base of the crown is a normal phenomenon in conifers, which occurs with age, i.e. with the growth and thickening of the crown and, therefore, the limitation of light penetration inside it. The symptoms can be exacerbated by several biotic or abiotic factors, among which high and constant soil moisture at certain times, lack of regular fertilizing, poor soil quality, soil compaction, etc. are the most important.
For the time being, you can consider removing all the affected branches at the base of the conifer with a well sharpened and disinfected tool (e.g. Power Pruner). Subsequently, in order to stimulate the overcoming of this period of stress, it is recommended to ensure optimal growing conditions (Fir, planting guide and care work) and to fertilize the conifer with specific fertilizers. For example, starting from the following month, you can consider using a fertilizer such as Tree Shrubs, 1 litre or AMN Nordalge, 500 ml, by watering at the roots, as recommended on the label. Additionally, a fertilizer with a revitalizing and hardening effect on conifers, such as Fir Fluid, 350 ml, can be applied by foliar spraying.
The future evolution of the conifer cannot be precisely predicted. If you notice symptoms that can be related to the presence of pests or fungal diseases (presence of insects, holes, very fine webs, sticky substances, deposits or others – Conifer diseases: affected needles, branches and cones and Conifer pests: information and treatments, respectively Conifer diseases: wood and root decay), please return with detailed information and clear, focused photos.-
