Silver fir tree that does not grow
Hello. I bought a silver fir tree 3 years ago. After a year I moved it to the garden. I mixed the soil only with fine sand. It hasn’t dried out but it doesn’t grow at all and it’s very shabby. It only grows at the bottom while the tip is bare. I have attached a picture. Please give me some advice so I can save it as I like it a lot. Thank you very much

Hello. Unfortunately, the photo was not successfully attached. Please attach more photos, preferably in .jpg or .png format. Also, please describe the environmental conditions in the area where you live, as well as the care conditions offered to the plant. Additionally, please check all parts of the conifer very carefully and let us know if you notice any unusual symptoms (e.g. presence of pests, holes, sticky substances, leaks, very fine webs, deposits, growths, etc.).
ElElena5 January 2024Thank you for your reply. We live in an area with good weather. I planted it next to a walnut tree and the distance between them is about 5 meters. I didn’t spray it with anything and apart from sand I didn’t add anything to its root. I haven’t noticed any pests. In summer it has some spider webs, but otherwise nothing else

In this case, the poor growth and development of the conifer can most likely be related to a combination of factors, such as growing outside its natural habitat, and therefore in unfavorable climatic conditions, but also to poor soil quality, lack of fertilization and nutrient deficiencies, lack of watering and others, depending on the case (Conifer diseases: affected needles, branches and cones).
Ensuring an optimal nutrient supply is essential for healthy and vigorous trees and shrubs, especially for specimens planted outside their optimal habitat. Thus, to improve the fertility, texture and structure of the soil, as well as to stimulate the microbial activity in the ground, you can consider using a natural fertilizer such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml (by watering at the roots – one administration during this period) or Soil Activator Manna Bio Bodenaktivator, 5 kg (by spreading and incorporating it into the top layer of the soil – one administration during this period), according to the recommendations on the labels. Additionally, it is important to keep a portion of the land permanently clear of vegetation or other materials around the conifer. As the activity and spread of plant pathogens is stimulated by high and constant moisture in the soil, watering is recommended to be carried out according to the recorded temperatures and rainfall only when the soil is dry on the surface. Watering the trees, spraying them or watering them at the same time as the lawn is contraindicated, as the humidity at the level of the foliage and the constant humidity at the base of the conifers represent a favorable environment for the development and propagation of fungal diseases. Subsequently, in the following growing season, it is recommended to fertilize the conifers regularly with specific foliar and root fertilizers.-

ElElena7 January 2024I have another question for you. I ordered from the internet an apple tree and a columnar pear tree and I have had them for 3 years but they have not produced any fruit. They have only grown about 1.5 meters. What should I do with them?
Hello. Growth and fruiting can be influenced by many abiotic and biotic factors, from the genetic background of the plants to the prevailing climatic and soil conditions. In this period, to improve the quality of the soil and to revitalize the roots, you can consider gently tilling the topsoil around the columnar trees and applying a fertilizer such as Soil Activator Manna Bio Bodenaktivator, 5 kg (by spreading and incorporating it into the topsoil – only one application during this period, as recommended in the product description).
In order to stimulate future flowering and fruiting, it is recommended to fertilize the fruit trees in a balanced way, starting in spring, with fertilizers specially formulated for this purpose (e.g.. Tree Power Plus Baum, 1 kg, Manna Bio Orgalong, 5 kg or Manna Organic Fruit Fertilizer, 1 kg at root level, respectively AMN BioVit, 1 litre or Terra-Sorb Foliar, 100 ml by foliar spraying, respecting the recommendations in the description of the chosen products).-
