Pip and Stone fruits, horticultural oil treatment

      Good evening!
I would like to ask you about the horticultural oil treatments. We have a small orchard of about 45 fruit trees set up last year (apple trees, pear trees, apricot trees, peach trees, quince trees, plum trees, cherry trees, sour cherry trees and a few walnut trees) plus grapevine and we would like to carry out the horticultural oil treatment next Saturday (since the weather allows it). We have already bought Ovipron Top oil from you and are thinking of combining it with an insecticide and an acaricide. We bought the insecticide from you as well – Mospilan, and the acaricide – Vertimec. We have the following questions:
      1. Can we combine Ovipron Top horticultural oil with Mospilan and Vertimec for better protection? Is it possible that the substances are not compatible?
      2. Are there examples among the trees listed above where it is not advisable to spray the mixture mentioned at point 1?
      3. Is there an organic alternative to this mixture of horticultural oil + insecticide + acaricide that has similar results?
      Thank you!
      Bogdan

Hello. When you want to combine certain plant protection products, it is advisable to read the label carefully. As a general rule, the incompatible substances to be mixed (the name of the active substance or its pH) are mentioned on the packaging. In order to check compatibility, you should consider carrying out a physico-chemical compatibility micro-test in a small volume of water before using a mixture of plant protection products.
Do not use the mixture if the products react with each other, if deposits occur, if a precipitate or a persistent foam is formed, etc. To avoid any risk of diminishing the efficacy of the products or of phytotoxicity, it is recommended to reduce the number of components in the mixture to a minimum. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, Ovipron Top, 1 litre can be applied together with an insecticide. The mixture of horticultural oil + insecticide can be applied to all fruit trees. As for the use of organic plant protection products, we do not currently have any products in our catalogue with a similar effect to the mixture you mentioned. If you want to use organic insecticides during the growing season, you can choose Laser 240 SC, 20 ml, Fytomax PM, 1 litre or Fizimite, 1 litre. Thanks so much for the quick reply! It is my understanding that Ovipron Top horticultural oil can therefore be applied together with an insecticide. In this case how do you recommend to proceed? Ovipron Top + Vertimec (or Mospilan)? Or all three together for a more effective protection? We were thinking of adding Vertimec, as it is both an insecticide and an acaricide.
      Thank you!

If you wish to carry out a single treatment using all three products, it is advisable to first carry out a physico-chemical compatibility microtest in a small volume of water, as described above.
