Kalanchoe with drying leaves
Hello, i have this kalanchoe that it’s getting worse and worse. I don't know what the problem is. The leaves turn yellow / brown. It is placed on the window sill. It has no pests and at this time of year i did not use any fertilizer. The soil is slightly moist on the surface. When i watered it was on the plate and after a while i threw away the excess. Maybe give me an idea so i can save it. Thank you.

Hello, if the kalanchoe soil is kept moist on the surface, then the excessive moisture has favored the disease development. In general, excessive watering, poor drainage, pots that do not allow water drainage, create optimal conditions for plant diseases. In this case, it is important to cut down, first of all, the affected portions and after that, to apply 2-3 treatments with a fungicide approved for ornamental plants, such as amistar ( Amistar, 10 ml ). The treatments can be performed at intervals of 7 days. Also, to support the plant regeneration after the disease, it is important to regularly apply a special fertilizer for succulents: bonsai & cactus fertilizer kakteendunger, 250 ml. Detailed information about the proper care of these plants can be found in our article: Kalanchoe, plant care and growing guide.

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 more questions. Would it be better to change the soil with a special one for cacti? After i bought the plant, i changed that temporary pot and filled the initial soil mix with a universal one for houseplants. Although the pot is a small one, it has some drainage holes, so i think i can keep it. If i prepare a solution of amistar respecting the recommended proportion, i will make a minimum amount of 250 ml. The question is can i use it for other houseplants (spatiphillum, dracena, coffee tree, epipremnum, etc. ) with a preventive character? For kalanchoe it is too much for a single application. And once done, the preparation must be used or discarded after 24 hours. I suspect that the application is done by spraying. I have a fertilizer for cacti and succulents that i haven't applied so far, so i don't need to buy fertilizer.

Hello, if you want to replant it in fresh soil, it would be advisable to perform this operation in spring, immediately after its start in vegetation. More information about the proper repotting of indoor plants can be found in the article: Indoor plants - Repotting. Also, if you want, as a preventive treatment for other ornamental plants, you can administer the Amistar, 10 ml fungicide solution by spraying it on the leaves.

So far, i have applied twice a difference of 7-8 days a solution prepared with a few drops of amistar. I think i will apply another treatment for any eventuality but after about 10-14 days.
