Hello!
I have had this Goldchild Ivy for 2 weeks. The first week it was kept in the house, and for the last week I have planted it in ceramic pots and kept it on the balcony. The pots have no drainage system, and when planting I put a layer of clay granules on the bottom of the pot, I also watered the soil with a green plant fertilizer when I repotted them. I water them every evening at around 10 pm, the soil is dry on the surface approximately 2 cm before spraying them with water. In the mornings they get some shade, but during the day they usually stay in direct sun (but that’s why I got this variety, as I wanted them for outdoors and had read that they are quite resistant to both heat and cold). For about 2-3 days I have noticed that many leaves have started to dry out, some of them have some brown spots (which don’t seem to be necessarily from the sun), but I haven’t noticed any pests. When planting, I also sprayed the leaves with a foliar fertilizer for green plants (in the evening, when the sun was gone).
Is there anything I can do or use for them? Possibly something to increase their resistance?
Thank you very much!
Hello. In this case the deterioration most likely occurred as a result of a combination of abiotic factors, such as stress during transport, handling, repeated changes in environmental conditions and transplanting (Indoor plants - Repotting – especially considering that the repotting was carried out in the middle of the growing season), unfavorable climatic conditions (excessive heat, temperature fluctuations, sunburn, dry wind), unfavorable soil conditions and constant humidity in the substrate (due to lack of drainage holes on the pot), possibly inadequate watering and others, depending on the case. For the time being it is recommended to remove the damaged leaves, ensure the environmental and care conditions specific to these plants (Ivy, plant care and growing guide) and apply a foliar fertilizer such as Terra-Sorb Foliar, 100 ml or AMN Optiferrum, 500 ml, by spraying, as recommended in the product description. During hot months, it is advisable to spray the plants early in the morning, when temperatures are not very high. During and towards the end of the day, the plant is under heat stress and does not respond very well to the treatments applied.
Additionally, in order to improve the quality of the substrate and to stimulate the root development in the new pot, as well as to stimulate the plant’s resistance to stress factors, it is recommended to regularly apply AMN BonaVita, 500 ml, by watering, as recommended on the label.
In view of the current state of the plant and the above mentioned, it is not possible to say exactly how the plant will develop in the future.
