Indoor Ornamental Plants, whitefly attack
Last night I saw that it has sticky patches on the underside of the leaves. I water it as required. I know it’s sensitive, so I sprinkle water on the leaves for humidity.
I have another Poinsettia from last year, which has started to bloom. It has some very small white insects on the underside of the leaves – some of them fly away.Attachments:

Hello. From the attached images, the insects present seem to be whiteflies (Whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) - pest management), and the sticky droplets may be their sweet droppings, commonly referred to as “honey dew”. In this case, it is recommended to carry out a first treatment with an insecticide such as Sanmite 10 SC, 15 ml (in a dose of 15 ml/10 L water), and after 10 days, it is advisable to alternate with an insecticide such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml (in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water). To increase the effectiveness of insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml (2 ml/10 L water) to the solutions. Spray the prepared solutions as finely as possible, so as to achieve a uniform distribution on the plant, both on the underside and on the topside of the leaves and on the stems. It is also advisable to place an adhesive trap for monitoring and controlling the flies, such as Butterfly Guard, set of 10. The insects are attracted by the color of the paper and stick to the special adhesive. 10 days after completion of the treatments, it is also recommended to use a fertilizer that stimulates plant regeneration following pest attacks and that increases their resistance to stress factors, such as Contra X, 500 ml, applied by spraying, according to the information provided by the manufacturer. The recommended products can also be administered to other houseplants (if applicable), as this pest easily migrates from one plant to another.

Recommended articlesCIClaudia Isache25 February 2024Thank you very much for your answer. So as not to open 2 topics, I asked for help for 2 plants: the Poinsettia which has white flies and the Calathea which has no flies, but has those reddish streaks on the underside of the leaves and sticky leaves. Definitely not the same pest. Just so I can place a single order, I would also like a treatment for the Calathea, as well. Thanks in advance
The red streaks on the underside of Calathea leaves are characteristic for the species, they are not caused by a pest attack, and the colorless droplets look like droppings left by certain pests such as the whiteflies, present on your Poinsettia. If you notice other unusual symptoms on the topside of the leaves or other insects on the Calathea, please insert clear photos of them. If you do not notice any other symptoms and/or pests, it is advisable to follow the above recommendations.
