Indoor ornamental plants, pest identification
Hello! I have noticed that my plants are losing their leaves and on the younger buds they have something white, and some sticky traces. I suspect it might be mealybugs. What treatment should I apply? I don’t want to lose them!

Hello! In order to be able to help you with a recommendation, please give us more details about the care of the plants: if they are near a heat source, if you have fertilized or treated them, how you water them, what kind of water you use, how much water you use, if the pots have drainage holes or not, etc.
Also, let us know if you notice any other symptoms of disease on the plants, such as: deposits, powders, discoloration. If you notice pests, please attach several clear, focused photos of them.ViVioleta29 January 2024Hello! The plants are in the balcony, where there is a heater, otherwise they would freeze in winter. The pots have good drainage. I water them when needed, when the surface of the soil dries out a bit. I suspect one plant I have bought recently was infested and I didn’t notice it in time and it spread to the others. In the picture you can see the deposits.

From the information and pictures provided, the plants seem to be suffering from an attack of mealybugs (Mealybugs in ornamental plants - pest management). Against them you can carry out a first treatment with the insecticide Mavrik 2 F, 5 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water, and 7 days after this, you can carry out a second treatment with the insecticide Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L to the solutions. Spray the mixtures as finely as possible in order to achieve a more uniform distribution on the plants.
10-12 days after completing the treatments, you can consider applying a foliar fertilizer that promotes the regeneration of plants, following the stress suffered such as: Organic Spray for Indoor Plants Zimmerpflanzen, 500ml.
It is important to mention that, after they die, these pests can remain attached to the leaves, so it is recommended to remove them with a damp sponge (as far as possible).
Additionally, in the case of cacti, for a healthy growth and development, it is recommended to use a special fertilizer specially designed for the nutritional requirements of succulents, such as: Kakteendunger Bonsai & Cacti Fertilizer, 250 ml. It is applied during the growing season according to the instructions on the label.-
