How do I get rid of the mice and rats in the yard and in the house?

Hello, please tell me a solution to get rid of mice and rats in the yard and house. The situation is as follows, in the yard I have 2 dogs that are free everywhere and I can’t really limit their area. Now if I use raticide I am afraid that the dogs will eat the poison! And one more thing, if the dog finds the mouse dead or poisoned and is tempted to eat it, he can be poisoned too! In the house, I can hear them in the wall which is made of plaster. There I am thinking of making a hole to insert a rodenticide and block the hole, but if it dies in the wall I think it will smell bad in the house too!
