Hello! I would need your help with some advice to understand what happened to this plum tree, which I found with the bark looking like in the photos, after approx a month of not going in the garden. I didn’t see any sign of pests, simply the bark is gnawed as shown in the pictures. Thank you very much!
Hello. From the attached pictures, the plum tree seems to be attacked by the Shothole borer. In this case, it is advisable to remove the tree and destroy it by burning it. In the future, it is recommended to respect the measures of cultural hygiene, avoid hurting the trees when pruning, maintain the general health of the trees, and carry out the treatments during the dormancy period (Winter treatments with oils and copper-based products), as well as the preventive ones, during the growing season.
