The sap found on the branches/trunk is not a disease in itself, but a reaction of the tree to stress caused by various factors, such as a phytopathogenic disease (possibly canker), pests (especially leafminers), mechanical injury, cracks, etc.

Since you mentioned that there is a hole, to check if there is a larva of a grub inside, you can use a thin, flexible wire (make a loop at the tip), which you can insert into the tunnel (tunnels can be up to 0.5 m long). Afterwards, it is important to clean the sap and dead plant tissue with a disinfected tool until healthy wood is visible, then disinfect the area with a copper-containing solution such as Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g.

A sachet of Bordeaux mixture is dissolved in a small amount of water to form a paste. Copper has a bactericidal, fungicidal effect and helps wounds heal quickly. After disinfecting well with the blue solution, close the wound with a healing agent such as (Tree plaster, 300 g or Bio Plantella Arbosan, 350 g).

Once the plant has started its vegetative growth, you can also consider preventive treatments, depending on the phenotype.

Also, to support growth and fruiting, we recommend to fertilize the plum tree regularly, using specific products such as Tree Power Plus Baum, 1 kg, Organic Fertilizer for Fruit Trees, 2 kg or Recharge, 250 g.
