Euonymus japonicus with white scale on branches
Hello! I have 20 Euonymus japonicus. Last year, at the end of May, they started to present on the surface of the branches and leaves a white crust. The leaves of the plants dry out and drop. The infestation is advanced and after studying on the internet I discovered a possible cause: the euonymus japonicus scale. Please tell me if this is the cause and recommend an effective treatment to save the plants. Thank you!

Hello, it is indeed a species of scale bugs, specific to Euonymus. To combat it, it is recommended to carry out 2-3 treatments, alternating the products, depending on the evolution of the attack, with insecticides such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, 7.5 ml/10 l water or Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g, 3 g/10 L water. More precisely, the first treatment is carried out with Movento, after 7-10 days Mospilan is applied. Spray the solution as finely as possible, so that it is distributed as evenly as possible on the plant. To increase the effectiveness of insecticides, it is recommended to add to the solution an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml in a dose of 2 ml/10 L. Also, for the regeneration of the plant, a fertilizer such as Vital NT, 250 ml, 2 ml/1 l water, can be applied by watering the roots.

DiDiana6 April 2022The fir tree has something like mold on branches. This has led to the drying of some areas that we have removed so far. The euonymus shrubs have a relatively uneven whitish layer on the branches and leaves, which has led to the drying and falling of the leaves. The same deposits appeared on the stems of some roses! I would like to order the products recommended by you as soon as possible!

Hello, they are attacked by a species of scale bugs, a situation presented above, also encountered by Aleahim acnid. For control, it is recommended to perform the previously recommended treatments (both in the case of conifers and shrubs). In addition, in the case of conifers, in order to favor the healthy growth, during the growing season, it is recommended the regular administration of a specific fertilizer such as: Fir Fluid, 350 ml.
