Euonymus, yellowing leaves and pest attack
Hello plant lovers 😊,
I have this Euonymus Japonicus , it was infested last summer with white fleas. I got rid of them , and ever since it’s been yellowish with no vigour , not much new foliage either. It should be a splendid raw green and I would like it plumper. Something’s wrong with it 😔. What am I supposed to do? 🤔
Thank you 😊Attachments:

Hello. In order to help you with advice and recommendations please give us more details about the growth and care of the plant. What treatments did you apply, tell us if after the treatments the dead pests were removed from the stem and leaves (they can remain attached to the leaves/branches/stem after they die), if you administered fertilizers, how often it was watered, and any other relevant information. Also, please check if the scale insects that can be seen on the leaves and branches are still alive.
MaMaria30 March 2024Hello,
I administered Mospilan at that time and indeed they all died but there were still some of them attached to the leaves. I have removed some of them by hand but have not used any solution. I did not apply any fertilizer to the plant.
I water it quite often, during the winter period a bit more rarely 🤔.The slight depreciation of the plant could be caused by both the attack of scale insects and one of the following factors: constant high humidity in the soil, lack of available nutrients in the soil, various climatic factors, etc. In this case, if you consider that the scale insects are still alive, it is recommended to carry out a treatment with an insecticide such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water, and 7 days after, it is advisable to alternate with an insecticide such as Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g, in a dose of 3 g/10 L water. To increase the effectiveness of insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L to the solutions. Spray the mixtures as finely as possible, so that they are distributed evenly over the plant, both on the underside and on the topside of the leaves and on the branches.
It is important to mention that, after they die, these pests can remain attached to the leaves, so it is recommended to remove them with a damp sponge (if possible). More information on how to apply plant protection treatments in optimal conditions can be found in our article: Phytosanitary treatments - environmental and labor protection. In order to provide the necessary nutrients to the plant and to stimulate a healthy and vigorous growth, you can consider periodically applying a fertilizer such as AMN Nordalge, 500 ml or Tree Shrubs, 1 litre, by watering, throughout the growing season, according to the information in the product description. It is also recommended to follow the specific care requirements detailed in our article in the Armuro Community: Euonymus, planting guide and care work.-
