Euonymus – massive attack of scale insects
Good evening, I have these Euonymus Aureomarginatus shrubs that have some white lice on them. I have already treated them with Mospilan and Karate zeon but without any result. Can you please recommend me something better? Thank you!

Hello. The plant has a massive attack of scale insects (Scale insects in ornamental plants - pest management). Controlling them is difficult. It is recommended to remove the badly affected parts of the plant and destroy them by burning. Afterwards, two treatments with a systemic insecticide, such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water, at an interval of 7 days between them, are recommended. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticide, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L water to the solution. Spray the mixture as finely as possible (Tech1) so as to achieve a more even distribution on the plant, both on the underside and topside of the leaves and on the stem. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours. After they die, these pests may remain on the stem and leaves, so it is recommended to remove them with a damp sponge.
At the same time with the insecticide treatments, it is recommended to apply a fertilizer that stimulates the healthy growth of the plants, such as AMN Powerfertiliser, 500 ml, by watering the roots according to the instructions on the product label. Afterwards, 7-10 days after the treatments, it is recommended to apply a foliar spray fertilizer that supports plant regeneration after certain stressful conditions, such as Organic Plant Spray Tansy & Wormwood, 500 ml. Spray once every 7-10 days, following the instructions on the label.
Due to the degree of infestation with scale insects, it is not possible to accurately predict the future development of the Euonymus in the attached pictures.

They don’t move, how do I know if the treatment was successful? Even before the treatment they didn’t move.

Even after the treatments are applied, the scale insects remain attached to the plants’ tissues. It is advisable to clean the plant with a soft sponge/wet rag.
