Hello. In order to be able to help you with recommendations, please mention how long you have owned the plant and when the symptoms of deterioration started, describe the environmental conditions in the area (temperatures, draughts, air humidity), specify if you have recently changed the location of the plant or if there is a functional heater under the windowsill, mention the source of the water you use for the plant, if you have administered any fertilizers, if you have identified the presence of pests, and any other information that may be relevant in this case.
ITIonicel Tatiana16 January 2024Hello,
The plant was purchased in November 2023, I have not changed its location, there is a functional radiator under the windowsill where the plant is, there are draughts when I open the door right next to the window where the plant is, the humidity in the room is slightly reduced. I water the plant with tap water, I have not used any fertilizers, I have not noticed any pests, but some whitish spots have appeared on the leaves. ThanksHello. In this case, the slight deterioration of the plant may be due to several biotic and abiotic factors, such as low air humidity, temperature fluctuations caused by the presence of the heater, changing environmental conditions (when the plant was purchased), draughts, lack of nutrients, the possible presence of phytopathogens (the whitish spots may also be caused by a fungal disease). Thus, it is recommended to remove the affected leaves and spray a fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dose of 20 g/10 L of water. Spray the solution as evenly as possible on the plant, on the topside and underside of the leaves (Tech1). It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours.
Subsequently, it is important to ensure the specific environmental conditions for this plant species (Dormancy period of indoor plants and Dracaena, plant care and growing guide). It is recommended to occasionally spray the plant with filtered water to ensure an adequate humidity. It is advisable to water the plant only when necessary, when the substrate is mostly dry. You may consider using rainwater (if possible). If you use tap water, it is recommended to keep it in an open container for at least 24 hours before use.
If you think it is necessary, you may consider using a fertilizer such as Vital NT, 250 ml, applied by watering in a dose of 2 ml/1L water, according to the instructions on the label. It helps to maintain the general health of plants. Additionally, 10-12 days after applying the foliar treatment with the fungicide, in order to support the plant’s regeneration, you may consider applying a foliar fertilizer such as Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml, as recommended in the product description.
From spring onwards, you can consider using a specific fertilizer such as Wuxal Green Plants and Palm Fertilizer Palmendünger, 1 litre, applied by watering or foliar spraying, according to the information on the label. In view of the current condition of the plant in the photo and those mentioned above, it is not possible to predict its future development.-
